Reading Council want to dump new homes at the location of the Coley Park flats. The area is already overcrowded and there are other major problems including an out of control rat infestation, inadequate refuse collection, parking chaos etc. They have said they will remove much of the green including many trees and have paid no attention to the residents.

Coley Park
Re: Coley Park
Trouble is the council start throwing their little toys out of the pram if they don't get their own way. Just like a load of spoilt children. All they want is to build & be dammed. Stuff the environment.Tommy wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019 13:02 Taken from InYourArea

So you mean their rhetoric of being in a 'climate emergency' was all virtue signalling?buseng wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019 13:37Trouble is the council start throwing their little toys out of the pram if they don't get their own way. Just to be clear -
This is a social housing project on RBC's own land.
The council won a bid from Housing England

You have to click on 'Live feed' on the left hand side. It was posted by someone called Stranger Things.chris_j_wood wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019 14:47Hey Tommy, have you got a link for that?.
I've tried searching via InYourArea's built in search and Google, but I'm not seeing anything other than the petition and in comments. Nothing doing a Google search on RBC's web site either. Strange.
Re: Coley Park
The green they want to build on is notorious for drug dealing, so perhaps building on much of it won’t be all that bad. They haven’t done a very good job of stopping the obvious drug dealing, so...

Re: Coley Park
Thanks, Tommy and Dave, and I have now found both those two references. However they are both pretty vague about what is being planned, with the one on the RBC web site simply saying in the "Wensley Road area of Coley" (a very much bigger area than just the flats) whilst Stranger Things seems to know it is at the flats, but doesn't say where that came from.
OneGorman's post also suggests he knows more than is in the RBC news article, in that he seems to know it is on a green. There are several 'greens' in the Wensley Road area, and a couple that might be regarded as at the flats. As a reasonably near neighbour I'd like to find out more about this planned development. If anybody knows more, preferably with some some sort of source for the "green" and "flats" information.
