Raining steadily again here, down by J11. Was a howling gale for about 10 minutes about half an hour ago.

Damn rain. SWMBO has identified all the drips from the guttering, so it's ladder time for me at the weekend.

There was an article in the Times today about Turner's reaction to a storm in Yorkshire - he liked a bit of weather, did Turner!!
.
"Turner was so captivated by the weather that he once declared at a lecture in 1811: “In our variable climate where [all] the seasons are recognisable in one day, where all the vapoury turbulence involves the face of things, where nature seems to sport in all: her dignity and dispensing incidents for the artist’s study . . . how happily is the landscape painter situated.”"

He’s welcome to try painting in what we’ve got here Avis, it would be a true water colour but would probably be blown off his easel !

Steady rain here, nothing heavy but still persistent. The type of rain that wets you.

Gales are forecast which means my standard rose will get its haircut....it’s fairly old and I'm always worried that despite the sturdy stake the top will snap off , so if it’s very windy I reduce it...the top is at least 3 ft wide this year...it’s a pretty single flower and I'd rather not lose it . A friend once found the top of her canary standard rose rolling down the street, while she was left with a stick 😟

Very light if anything....OH is fond of single roses which was why we got this one , you don't see single standards so often ....I like its simplicity...

It’s a shadow of its former self now though......

View out the window right now - blue sky and only a few clouds on the horizon - and no wind.............yet!

Oops- not sure if spoke too soon
Its still sun / blue sky but the wind has picked up and now blowing white and grey clouds over

They look heavier coming up from the south west – the view in my image was facing directly south

Supposedly a nice sunny day here but for some reason it's raining now? Don't think it will last long, but tonight, tomorrow and the weekend are not looking good though as we are expecting wind and rain.

Sunny here since lunch, the rain only lasted about half an hour. Curtains are closed now to keep the sun out.

Nice a dry here at present but rain is heading uphill from the sunny south later, some quite heavy according to the forecast.

It’s foul here too Pi, we shan’t be going anywhere and it doesn’t inspire me to much around the house either.

Word? I don't even know which post it referred to! Doesn't matter anyway, if it has to be explained I obviously didn't get the joke. Still no rain here as yet, maybe it will miss us...haha! :whistle1:
