Baron Cadogan
Baron Cadogan
It seems to be up for sale again.
Re: Baron Cadogan
Interesting, will have to ask Darren about it next time I see him

When it was a 'spoons' it was pretty busy all the time. It was never as good when it changed hands.
Re: Baron Cadogan
It’s not listed as a Marston’s pub on their website anymore!

Re: Baron Cadogan
it doesn't necessarily bode ill for the existing pub.
The old Maiden Over site is now a Tescos, but was recently up for sale as an investment.
Presumably Tescos lease the site from a landing company and I think I remember the details saying how long the rental was.
Same thing with the Three Tuns.
A guy owns the site and rents it to the Pubco.
Then the landlord tries to make enough money to pay two people's rent.

The guy who owned the TT land passed away and it now belongs to the rest of the familydave m wrote: ↑01 Nov 2021 14:48 it doesn't necessarily bode ill for the existing pub.

There was a worry at the time it would be sold off but the majority of them decided against it

Re: Baron Cadogan
Caversham used to have quite a good mixture of pubs. Not so much anymore. They're all turning into hipster joints.
Re: Baron Cadogan
I see it has now closed and will become an Indian restaurant.

Clay's Hyderabadi Kitchen apparently.
Is only the Clifton Arms left for old Caversham Village soaks?

Sometimes right, sometimes wrong, always certain.

There's no such thing as a free lunch
Re: Baron Cadogan
The Clifton Arms is still there.
Clays is very well thought of on the foodie scene Even Jay Rayner approves….
The building opposite (more or less ) the old Chinese , has a notice to say it’s sold for ‘Mixed use’ so possible Retail or office with residential ? ….shame the Post office don’t have it..- I’m tired of standing outside the current one while they stick to one customer at a time
